About us
Our Story
Wa’hab began in 2017 with a simple yet powerful vision: to rescue surplus food and redirect it to those who need it most. We set out to build a system that bridges the gap between excess and need—where food nourishes people, not landfills. Our soft launch took place at the Qatar International Food Festival 2017, where we identified the perfect opportunity: dozens of participating restaurants, a high likelihood of surplus food, and a large, engaged public. During this launch, we collaborated with Hifz Al Naema, Qatar’s local food bank, who supported us by providing food containers and helping to distribute collected food to communities in need. We began with just one volunteer—and today, that effort has grown into a dynamic network of over 100 dedicated individuals. Over the years, Wa’hab has expanded its mission beyond food rescue, partnering with various organizations to lead impactful food awareness campaigns that engage and educate communities across Qatar. In addition to redistribution, we now deploy food waste recycling machines across Qatar that transform inedible food waste into nutrient-rich compost—returning it to the soil to enhance fertility and support the next generation of crops. Today, Wa’hab operate not only in Qatar, but also in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, extending our impact across the region. What began as a grassroots initiative is now a growing movement—advancing sustainability, food security, and environmental stewardship throughout the Gulf.
